GB Australia is part of a worldwide Christian movement that has worked in partnership with local churches for over 125 years. Together we are committed to seeing girls’ lives transformed and God’s world enriched. Together we help girls and leaders seek, serve and follow Christ.

Girls’ Brigade groups (also called Companies) around the world have a mission to be relational, relevant and responsive in the way they work. We empower girls and young women in local communities to be themselves, to develop and use their gifts and skills, and to discover what it means to have life to the full in their generation.

At the core of our program are two of our desires for girls:

FRIENDSHIPS & FAITH

Friends are critical to enjoying life. Often it is a friend who brings a girl to Girls’ Brigade and friendships are one of the main reasons girls stay. We aim for every to have at least one good friend in Girls’ Brigade.
Our Christian values and teaching are by far the number one reason why parents send their daughters to Girls’ Brigade. We aim for all girls to develop in their faith journey through their time in Girls’ Brigade, regardless of the length of time they are with us.

Our program material covers four themes:

SELF, LIFE, COMMUNITY & PURPOSE

Our themes help us ensure girls participate in a varied program that sees them develop in all aspects of their life:

     GOAL
SELF  Understanding who you are. Developing resilience.
 Exploring belonging, fellowship & connection.
LIFE  Developing skills for life. Developing a sense of responsibility.
 Developing Godly character.
COMMUNITY  Learning how to be part of a community and relate to others.
Developing a heart for God’s people and the world.
PURPOSE  Exploring talents, gifts and finding your passion.
Learning ways to draw close to God.

Our themes have a basis in our aim:

To help girls become followers of the Lord Jesus Christ and through self-control (SELF), reverence (COMMUNITY)
and a sense of responsibility (LIFE) to find true enrichment of life (PURPOSE).

And are supported by scripture:

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name (PURPOSE),
your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven (COMMUNITY).
Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors (LIFE).
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one (SELF). Matthew 6:9-13

All around our program are two more of our desires for girls:

PARTICIPATE IN EXTRAORDINARY ACTIVITIES & MAKE POSITIVE CONTRIBUTIONS

Extra-ordinary activities make Girls’ Brigade great. They are the most talked about activities when you ask girls what they like about Girls’ Brigade and are the reason many girls choose to stay with us just a little bit longer. We aim for girls to have these opportunities at least twice a year.
Following Jesus’ example, we see a Christian life as one involving service to others. We want all girls to recognise the value serving others can bring to the lives of others as well as the value it has on one’s own well-being. We aim for girls to have these opportunities at least twice a year.
